Arman Tsarukyan, the No. 2 ranked lightweight in the UFC representing Armenia and Russia, has shared his emotional response to his friend Khamzat Chimaev’s loss against American Sean Strickland in yesterday’s middleweight title fight. Tsarukyan was inside the octagon when Bruce Buffer announced the result, reacting with a loud shout of frustration before crouching down. Moments later, as Chimaev exited the cage, Tsarukyan approached and offered words of encouragement.
The video posted on the fighter’s Telegram channel was captioned: “We’ll get ours back soon.”
Following the bout, UFC president Dana White revealed that Chimaev had requested to move up in weight class.
