When you play well but don’t win, it doesn’t feel as good. I’m very happy. The team loosened up and performed at the level we’re used to at Murube, without any fear, enjoying one of the great stadiums in the league. If there was a match to remember for Ceuta’s season, it had to be at El Molinón, and they delivered.”
He praised the team’s performance: “Bodiger’s positioning gave us a lot. Kuki Zalazar is in excellent form and indispensable. Youness is at a high level, as is Marino. When these players function, the rest follow their rhythm.”
On Marino Illescas: “We had seen Algeciras. Even though he arrived in January, he will be very important for our survival. I dare say that without Marino, it would have been difficult to reach this many points in the second half of the season, along with Rubén Díez and Kuki. He has footballing intelligence, brains, and legs. I’m absolutely convinced he will be an elite-level footballer.”
On Castellón: “A very fun team to watch. They used to be more chaotic, end-to-end, with fascinating matches. Now they combine many aspects like balance and control, under Pablo Hernández’s guidance. They are a great team, prepared to fight—I’m not sure if for direct promotion or playoffs—but they have all the modern attributes: they are the most physical team in the league and very talented. That’s why they are in their current position and will fight for everything. They will at least make the playoffs.”
